Breaking Up is Hard to Do: Windows to Linux (For keeps this time, sorta)

To no ones surprise, I have decided to jump into Linux full time on my old rig.  Under normal circumstances, this isn't a big deal, but this is my test run before I make the final leap away from Windows.  To be clear, I will still have Windows installed somewhere just to keep up with industry standards, but now that I'm diving into QA Test Automation, Linux is the best environment for numerous reasons.

Having a deep background and experience with Windows since 3.1, migrating to a new operating system has been a daunting task.  In the past, I have tried Ubuntu Linux and various distros, but I ultimately had to fall back onto Windows as my gaming and creative apps computer.  Eventually, I was able to break off the creative apps to Apple, which include video, image, and audio applications, but gaming has always been a Windows thing.  To my surprise in the past 3 years, Linux has matured into a viable gaming platform, specifically because of the efforts of Valve, proton, and the Linux community.

As of the past 3 weeks, I have been mainlining Linux Mint and it has been great.  Definitely a few curve balls, but I was ultimately able to over come it all.  I will admit, it feels a bit weird to use a tutorial and completely ignore all of the instructions that don't relate to Linux.
